Preventing Back Pain: Ergonomics for the Modern Remote Worker

The Rise of Working from Home

With more people working remotely, we've seen a surge in cases of "Tech Neck" and lower back strain. Most home setups are not designed for 8-hour workdays.

Key Ergonomic Principles

  • Monitor Height: The top of your screen should be at or slightly below eye level.
  • Chair Support: Ensure your lower back is supported. Use a lumbar roll if necessary.
  • Elbow Position: Keep your elbows at a 90-degree angle while typing.
  • Foot Placement: Your feet should be flat on the floor or on a footrest.

The 20-20-20 Rule

Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. Also, take standing breaks every hour to reset your posture.

If you're already experiencing discomfort, don't wait for it to become chronic. Book an online or in-person consultation with Avani Physio Care.
